If you’re like me and sit in a state of amazement and wonder ever time you watch a Surfing clip or TV show as you see these professional surfers casually race’s in and out of rapidly moving funnels of water whilst a 30ft wall of forcing sea water charges inches behind him! I go green with envy watching them and dream that one day i’ll be as proficient on a surfboard as them. i could see myself mastering the waves so i considered actually going on a surfing holiday but then it occurred to me! you cannot surf in most countries in the world… and if you’re going to learn you’ll have to go Australia or Hawaii so I enquired into both of the destinations and got a great deal with Australia Sky The austrlia holidays specialist who went out of there own way to tailor make me a surfing inspired holiday Melbourne Holidays. I was very excited about my surfing skill prospects that i went and purchased my very own wet suit and other surfing clothes so i’d fit into character when I arrive! After a wait which seemed to last forever the day came for me to board my long haul flight to Australia! I slept for the majority of the flight so when i awoke my spirits were high and i was raring to go! I stayed at the langham hotel by the harbour and was thrilled by the legendary class the hotel held, but all i could focus on was hitting the beach tomorrow and riding the waves so i hit the sack early. i awoke to the lovely song of ocean gull and other maritime sea birds, hot rays of sun shone brightly through my windows as I swiftly suited up and hurried down to the beach to greet my teacher. He was named thomas and had been surfing the majority of his life which gave me the greatest confidence in thinking i’d be a great surfer before the end of the day! He presented me with a huge foam board which evidently is the easiest to learn on, we started learning the paddling technique’s on the beach whIch I consequently mastered in seconds although when trying to perform my learning’s in the sea they turned out to be a different kettle of fish! Eventually i found my feet and stood up after an elongated hour of frustration! Within the next week my skills went from strength to strength and I must say I am now a confident surfer; even so that i bought my own board ready or next year when I my ametaeur return. I highly recommend you take your Holidays in Australia if you want to learn how to surf. |
