Guarding Your Luggage During Travel

When traveling, do you usually bring nice luggage with you? This, like other expensive items you may have, should be guarded carefully. That’s why it is important you protect your bags when going to the airport, and here are three suggestions we have in order for you to keep your luggage secure.

Many travelers, when getting ready for their trip, make sure their best luggage with them to show off and make themselves look important. Your luggage’s functionality, though, may be a more important concern. Take care of your luggage as you would a flashy car, making sure it’s in top shape and not simply looking good for all to see.

To make sure your luggage is protected as securely as possible, put tape on zippers or pockets that won’t close. Some airport workers may carelessly throw your luggage around, and conveyor belts can be dangerous to luggage zippers, making this a very important precaution. It wouldn’t look nice if your bags have lost most of the zippers on them due to mishandling. This is one good way to ensure your bags’ protection.

In the event that your luggage does get damaged, file a claim with the airline. Luggage damage is common, so many airlines have policies to guard against this possibility. Always inspect your bags post-flight. If your luggage needs repair, get it fixed right away to avoid further damage from loose zippers and other damage that could worsen if not paid attention to.

Instead of using markers, use ribbons to mark your bags. However, it can be confusing at times to find your bags when it’s time for pickup. A colored ribbon could help minimize this confusion, and best of all, you don’t have to deal with bags that have big black marks scrawled on the side. At only about $20, colored ribbons are cheap and can be handy in these situations.

The three tips discussed can be used any time you are traveling, regardless of what luggage you are using, and can keep your luggage safer and give you peace of mind on the trip.
